This property started as a heavily overgrown and largely unusable outdoor space. The homeowners wanted to completely open up the property and create a landscape that worked for the whole family, with comfortable areas for entertaining and relaxing, along with plenty of open space for their young twin boys to play, shoot pucks and play basketball.

The project began with a large scale excavation of the entire property. A significant volume of material was removed, an existing concrete retaining wall was demolished, and the site was rebuilt with new drainage, grading and proper base preparation for the new landscape.

In the backyard, NewStone 12×24 paving stones were installed to create large patio areas for entertaining and outdoor living. A new NewStone Dorado retaining wall helped reshape the property, while natural granite boulders, new garden beds and a three column water feature added texture and character throughout the landscape.

The outdoor living space includes a dedicated sitting area with a fire table, along with a hot tub that was brought into the backyard during construction, creating another place for the homeowners to relax and enjoy the space.

At the front of the property, a new Belgard Dimensions 12 paving stone driveway completely changed the arrival to the home. Custom fencing and privacy screening were also constructed to provide privacy and help define the different areas of the property.

Coastal Shores installed the complete irrigation and landscape lighting systems throughout the property, along with natural grass in both the front and backyard. The large open lawn and hardscape areas give the boys plenty of usable space to play, while the patios, hot tub, fire table, gardens and water feature create spaces for the homeowners to entertain and relax.

The result is a complete transformation of the property. What was once an overgrown landscape with very little usable space has become an open, functional outdoor environment designed around the way this family lives.

For us, this project is a great example of how substantial excavation, drainage and landscape construction can completely change not only the appearance of a property, but how a family is able to use it.
