The Grounds at 57th

Spanning the front, backyard and side yards, The Grounds at 57th was a substantial full property landscape construction project that brought together extensive hardscaping, drainage, outdoor living spaces and planting throughout the property.

With tight access, significant excavation and extensive drainage requirements, much of the work that made the finished landscape possible happened below the surface. Careful planning and coordination were required throughout construction as large volumes of material were moved in and out of the property and the different elevations and outdoor spaces were built from the ground up.

Approximately 3,000 square feet of paving stones were installed throughout the property, including a raised patio off the house, walkways through the side yards and a large paving stone driveway at the front of the home. The scale of the hardscape required careful layout and construction to create continuity between the different areas of the property.

A custom putting green creates a dedicated recreational space, while basalt columns bring natural stone and vertical interest into the landscape. Artificial turf provides a clean, low maintenance lawn at the front of the property, while natural grass in the backyard creates a softer lawn area for everyday use.

Lush gardens throughout the front of the property soften the extensive hardscape and create a welcoming entrance to the home. Planting, natural stone, lawn and paving stones continue through the property, connecting the front, side yards and backyard into one cohesive landscape.

Coastal Shores also installed the complete irrigation and landscape lighting systems throughout the property. The irrigation supports the extensive gardens and lawn areas, while the landscape lighting highlights the planting, basalt columns, paving stone areas and key features throughout the property after dark.

The Grounds at 57th was the type of project our team enjoys taking on. The scale, tight access, excavation, drainage and coordination created challenges throughout construction, but also gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the construction experience and problem solving required to bring a complex landscape together.
